JOB DESCRIPTION – MINING ENGINEER

Job Purpose

Kun Yuan Mining is seeking an experienced and competent Mining Engineer to oversee and coordinate mining operations, ensuring that extraction activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved mine plans, technical standards, and Zimbabwean mining regulations.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily mining operations.
* Develop and implement short-term and long-term mine plans and production schedules.
* Design and optimize mining methods to improve production efficiency and resource recovery.
* Monitor drilling, blasting, excavation, loading, hauling, and material handling activities.
* Conduct mine surveys and assist with geological and mineral resource assessments.
* Calculate production targets, equipment requirements, and material movement.
* Monitor mining costs and recommend measures to improve operational efficiency.
* Ensure mining activities comply with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
* Inspect working areas and identify potential operational and safety hazards.
* Supervise mining personnel and coordinate activities between different sections of the mine.
* Monitor the performance and utilization of mining equipment and recommend maintenance requirements.
* Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
* Work closely with geologists, mineral processing personnel, surveyors, engineers, and management.
* Assist with the development, construction, commissioning, and optimization of mining and mineral-processing facilities where required.
* Train and mentor local employees and junior technical staff in modern mining practices.
* Maintain accurate technical records, mine plans, production statistics, and operational reports.
* Provide technical advice to management regarding mining methods, production planning, and operational improvements.

Qualifications and Experience

* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Mining Engineering.
* Relevant professional experience in mining operations.
* Strong knowledge of mine planning, production management, drilling and blasting, and mining equipment.
* Good understanding of occupational health and safety requirements.
* Ability to interpret mine plans, technical drawings, geological information, and survey data.
* Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* Experience working in mineral extraction and processing operations will be an added advantage.

Reporting

The Mining Engineer will report to the Mine Manager/General Manager and will be responsible for providing technical guidance and ensuring that mining operations meet established production, safety, and efficiency targets.

Overall Objective

The Mining Engineer will play a key role in ensuring that Kun Yuan Mining achieves safe, efficient, and sustainable mining production while maximizing mineral recovery, controlling operational costs, developing local technical skills, and maintaining compliance with applicable mining and environmental requirements.
