Description
The incumbent will be responsible for designing, operating and managing irrigation and drainage systems at Greenfuel Chisumbanje whilst liaising with relevant departments to produce quality yields through effective planning, coordinating and monitoring work activities which lead to an increase in productivity

Duties and Responsibilities
• Designing, implementing and optimising irrigation and water reticulation systems across the estate.
• Managing daily irrigation operations to ensure reliable, efficient and timely water distribution to all production areas.
• Supervising and coordinating irrigation and maintenance teams, including workforce planning, deployment and performance management.
• Overseeing the operation, maintenance and reliability of bulk water supply systems, pumping stations, pipelines and associated infrastructure.
• Monitoring water reticulation and irrigation system performance, identifying faults and implementing timely corrective actions.
• Monitoring water consumption and implementing measures to improve water use efficiency and minimise losses.
• Planning and coordinating preventative and corrective maintenance of water reticulation and irrigation infrastructure.
• Maintaining accurate operational records, maintenance schedules, water usage reports and other relevant documentation.

Qualifications and Experience
• Degree in Irrigation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience in drip and pivot irrigation systems.
• Strong background in irrigation system design and field operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical and general labour teams.
• Experience in maintenance of bulk water and irrigation infrastructure.
• Good problem-solving, planning and communication skills.
• Vast experience in sugarcane production and knowledge on drip irrigation system.
• Budgeting skills, Safety-Health and Environment consciousness and ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Clean Class 4 driver’s license.
