JOB DESCRIPTION – MINING ENGINEER

Position: Mining Engineer

1. JOB PURPOSE

Ruiganglian Minerals seeks to employ a qualified and experienced Mining Engineer to oversee and coordinate mining operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of gold and other mineral resources. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in mine planning, production management, excavation, mineral extraction, and compliance with applicable mining regulations.

2. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Mine Planning and Development: Prepare mining plans, production schedules, mine layouts, and excavation designs to support efficient mineral extraction.
2. Mining Operations Management: Supervise daily mining activities, including drilling, blasting where applicable, excavation, loading, hauling, and ore transportation.
3. Gold Mining Operations: Provide technical guidance on gold ore extraction, ore handling, grade control, and the effective utilization of mining equipment.
4. Production Monitoring: Monitor daily production targets, evaluate operational performance, and recommend improvements to increase productivity.
5. Safety Management: Ensure that mining activities comply with occupational health and safety standards and applicable Zimbabwean mining legislation.
6. Equipment Coordination: Monitor the use, maintenance, and performance of mining machinery and equipment to minimize operational downtime.
7. Geological Coordination: Work closely with geologists and surveyors to identify mineralized zones, assess ore reserves, and improve extraction methods.
8. Cost Control: Monitor mining expenditure, labour utilization, fuel consumption, and equipment operating costs to improve operational efficiency.
9. Technical Reporting: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering production, ore extraction, equipment performance, safety, and operational challenges.
10. Environmental Management: Implement appropriate measures to control mining waste, soil disturbance, water pollution, and other environmental impacts.
11. Staff Supervision and Training: Supervise mining personnel and provide technical guidance to local employees on safe mining practices and modern extraction techniques.
12. Operational Improvement: Evaluate mining methods and recommend suitable technologies and engineering solutions to improve recovery, productivity, and profitability.

3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

* A degree or diploma in Mining Engineering or an equivalent recognized qualification.
* Relevant experience in mine development, mineral extraction, and mining operations, preferably in gold mining.
* Strong knowledge of mine planning, production scheduling, drilling and blasting principles, and mining safety procedures.
* Ability to interpret geological reports, mine plans, and technical drawings.
* Experience in supervising mining personnel and managing mining equipment.
* Good analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and reporting skills.

* Strong technical knowledge of mining engineering principles.

* Knowledge of mining health, safety, and environmental requirements.
* Ability to manage production targets and operational budgets.

5. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The Mining Engineer will be expected to maintain safe mining operations, achieve approved production targets, improve operational efficiency, minimize equipment downtime, control mining costs, and ensure compliance with relevant mining laws and environmental requirements.
