JOB DESCRIPTION – MINING ENGINEER

Job Summary

Pingfang Mining Pvt Limited is seeking an experienced Mining Engineer to support and supervise its mining operations. The Mining Engineer will be responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and optimizing mining activities to ensure safe, efficient, and productive extraction of mineral resources in accordance with company standards and Zimbabwean mining regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement mine plans, production schedules, and mining strategies.
2. Supervise daily mining operations, including drilling, blasting, excavation, loading, hauling, and stockpiling.
3. Conduct mine surveys and monitor mining progress and production performance.
4. Ensure efficient utilization of mining equipment, machinery, labour, and other resources.
5. Monitor ore extraction and ensure that mining activities meet required production and recovery targets.
6. Prepare technical reports, production reports, mining plans, and operational records.
7. Coordinate with geologists, mine supervisors, equipment operators, and other technical personnel.
8. Identify and resolve operational and technical challenges encountered during mining activities.
9. Ensure compliance with mine safety procedures, environmental requirements, and applicable Zimbabwean mining regulations.
10. Assist with the design and development of open-pit or underground mining areas as required by the company’s operations.
11. Monitor ground conditions and implement appropriate measures to maintain safe working conditions.
12. Assist in the maintenance and optimization of mining equipment to minimize downtime.
13. Analyze production data and recommend improvements to increase productivity and reduce operating costs.
14. Train and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, supervisors, and local mining personnel.
15. Participate in mine development projects and the commissioning or improvement of mining-related facilities and equipment.
16. Maintain proper technical documentation and ensure that mining activities are carried out according to approved mine plans.

Qualifications and Experience

* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Mining Engineering.
* Relevant professional experience in mining operations.
* Knowledge of mine planning, production management, drilling and blasting, and mineral extraction methods.
* Ability to read and interpret mine plans, technical drawings, and survey information.
* Knowledge of mining health, safety, and environmental requirements.
* Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary technical teams.

Reporting

The Mining Engineer will report to the Mine Manager/General Manager and will work closely with the company’s geological, engineering, production, and supervisory teams.

Main Objective

The primary objective of the position is to ensure that Pingfang Mining Pvt Limited’s mining operations are safe, productive, technically efficient, and economically sustainable, while supporting the company’s mine development and mineral production targets.
