JOB DESCRIPTION – MINING ENGINEER

POSITION SUMMARY

Jin Mei Minerals is seeking an experienced and suitably qualified Mining Engineer to oversee and support mining operations, ensuring that extraction activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved mine plans, technical standards, and Zimbabwean mining regulations.

The Mining Engineer will provide technical expertise in mine planning, production management, operational supervision, and the optimisation of mining activities. The position will also involve working closely with management, engineers, supervisors, and local employees to improve production efficiency and develop local technical skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Prepare, review, and implement mine plans and production schedules.
* Supervise and coordinate daily mining operations at the mine site.
* Conduct mine surveys, geological evaluations, and production assessments where required.
* Develop efficient mining methods and recommend improvements to existing operations.
* Monitor mining production, equipment utilisation, and operational performance.
* Ensure that mining activities comply with approved mine plans and applicable safety requirements.
* Assist with the planning and development of open-pit mining operations.
* Monitor excavation, drilling, loading, hauling, stockpiling, and ore-handling activities.
* Coordinate with mechanical, processing, and other technical departments to ensure smooth mine operations.
* Identify operational challenges and provide practical engineering solutions.
* Prepare technical reports, production reports, and operational documentation.
* Assist management with budgeting, production forecasting, and mine development planning.
* Monitor the efficient use of mining equipment, labour, and other resources.
* Implement measures to improve productivity while reducing operational costs.
* Ensure proper health, safety, and environmental practices are followed at the mining site.
* Provide technical guidance and training to local mining personnel and junior engineers.
* Mentor and transfer relevant mining knowledge and skills to local employees.
* Participate in mine inspections, risk assessments, and operational meetings.
* Assist with the implementation of quality-control procedures for mining operations.
* Perform any other engineering duties reasonably related to the position.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate should have:

* A degree or recognised qualification in Mining Engineering.
* Relevant professional mining experience.
* Strong knowledge of mine planning and production management.
* Practical experience in mining operations and mine-site supervision.
* Knowledge of mining equipment and extraction methods.
* Ability to interpret mining plans, technical drawings, and operational data.
* Good understanding of occupational health and safety requirements.
* Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The primary purpose of the position is to provide specialised mining engineering expertise to Jin Mei Minerals, improve the efficiency and safety of mining operations, support mine development and production planning, and contribute to the training and development of local technical personnel.
