About the Opportunity

We are looking for a serious, dedicated and hardworking Farm Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management and development of a small startup farm in Gutu Rural.

This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced agricultural professional who is hands-on, self-motivated and passionate about farming, particularly livestock production. The successful candidate will play a key role in establishing the farm's operations and ensuring that livestock are properly managed, healthy and productive.

Minimum Requirements
Diploma in Agriculture or a related agricultural qualification.
Practical experience in animal husbandry and livestock management.
Experience working with some or all of the following:
Cattle – beef production
Dairy cattle
Pigs
Chickens/poultry
Previous experience managing a farm, livestock operation or smallholding will be an advantage.
Good knowledge of animal feeding, nutrition, breeding and general livestock care.
Experience with feed preparation and feed management.
Experience in livestock rearing and day-to-day animal care.
Experience in maintaining accurate farm and livestock records.
Basic knowledge of crop growing and/or fodder production is an advantage.
Ability to work independently in a rural environment.
Strong work ethic, integrity and commitment.
Key Responsibilities

The Farm Manager will be responsible for:

Livestock Management
Manage the day-to-day care and welfare of all livestock.
Oversee feeding, watering, breeding and general animal husbandry.
Monitor animal health and identify signs of illness or disease.
Maintain proper vaccination, treatment and breeding records.
Manage livestock births, growth, mortality and production records.
Ensure proper hygiene and cleanliness of animal housing and facilities.
Feed & Nutrition
Prepare and manage appropriate animal feed rations.
Monitor feed consumption and minimise wastage.
Assist with growing and sourcing feed and fodder.
Ensure adequate feed supplies are maintained.
Farm Operations
Establish and maintain efficient daily farming routines.
Assist with the development of the farm from startup to a productive operation.
Manage farm equipment, tools and facilities responsibly.
Monitor water availability and general farm infrastructure.
Ensure the farm is maintained in a clean, safe and productive condition.
Records & Administration
Maintain accurate records of livestock, feed, medication, breeding and production.
Keep records of farm expenses, purchases and stock.
Provide regular updates on farm activities and livestock performance.
Monitor farm inputs and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce costs.
Crops & Fodder
Participate in the planning and growing of crops and animal fodder where applicable.
Assist with land preparation, planting, harvesting and storage.
Identify opportunities to produce feed on the farm and reduce reliance on purchased feed.
