A renowned utilities company seeks to recruit suitably qualified candidates to fill in the positions that have arisen within our organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Install solar PV modules on roof-mounted and groundmounted structures in accordance with approved drawings, string layouts and manufacturers’ instructions, ensuring correct orientation, tilt and secure fixing.

2. Assemble and install PV mounting rails, clamps and support structures, including bonding and earthing of module frames and metalwork. 3 Install, wire and connect hybrid/grid-tied inverters, lithium battery banks and associated equipment, observing correct polarity and battery safety requirements.

4 Carry out LV cable jointing and terminations, including straight-through joints and end terminations on armoured and PVC cables, in accordance with jointing kit manufacturers’ instructions.

5 Crimp cable lugs, ferrules and MC4 solar connectors using the correct crimping tools.

6 Assist the Site Engineer with system commissioning, inverter configuration, monitoring set-up and handover to the client.

7 Diagnose and rectify faults on PV arrays, inverters, battery systems, panels and associated cabling.

8 Apply safe isolation, lockout/tagout and safe workingat-height practices at all times, and enforce the correct use of personal protective equipment.

9 Maintain installation records, test sheets, as-built mark-ups and daily progress reports.

10 Maintain accountability for materials, tools and test instruments issued, and report shortages, damage or discrepancies promptly.

11 Participate in toolbox talks and guide electrical assistants and general workers on safe work methods.

12 Work closely with Site Engineers, Project Managers, SHEQ personnel and the Stores Department.

Qualifications & Attributes:

1 A valid Class 1 or Class 2 Electrician (Journeyman) certificate from a recognised institution, with own toolbox.

2 At least three years’ relevant experience in electrical installation work, with demonstrable experience on solar PV installations.

3 Proven competence in LV cable jointing and terminations.

4 Hands-on experience in electrical panel and distribution board assembly, wiring and installation.

5 Practical experience installing PV modules, mounting structures, hybrid inverters and lithium battery systems.

6 Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, singleline diagrams, string layouts and equipment datasheets.

7 Willingness to work on out-of-town project sites and to travel as required.

8 A recognised solar PV installation certificate or training will be a distinct advantage.

9 Working knowledge of Zimbabwean occupational health and safety requirements will be an added advantage.

10 Knowledge in SHEQ Legal Requirements and the Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018) an added advantage
