MINING ENGINEER

Position Overview

Cai Sheng Mining is seeking to employ a qualified and experienced Mining Engineer to oversee and support mining operations, ensuring that mining activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved mining plans, technical standards, and applicable Zimbabwean mining regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Mining Planning and Design
* Prepare and implement short-term and long-term mining plans.
* Design mining layouts, production schedules, pit development plans, and extraction methods.
* Assess geological and mining conditions and recommend appropriate mining methods.
2. Mining Operations
* Supervise day-to-day mining activities and monitor production progress.
* Coordinate drilling, blasting, excavation, loading, hauling, and material handling operations.
* Ensure efficient utilization of mining equipment, machinery, labour, and other resources.
3. Production Management
* Monitor production targets and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
* Identify operational challenges and recommend practical technical solutions.
* Improve productivity while controlling operational costs and minimizing material losses.
4. Mine Safety and Compliance
* Ensure mining activities are carried out in accordance with applicable safety requirements and company procedures.
* Conduct risk assessments and assist in implementing appropriate safety measures.
* Monitor working conditions and promote safe operating practices among employees.
5. Technical Supervision
* Provide technical guidance to mining supervisors, operators, and other technical personnel.
* Inspect mining areas and ensure that operations follow approved engineering designs and plans.
* Monitor mine development and advise management on technical requirements.
6. Equipment and Resource Management
* Assist with the planning and efficient deployment of mining equipment.
* Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with maintenance personnel to minimize downtime.
* Ensure efficient use of fuel, materials, and other mining resources.
7. Environmental and Operational Management
* Assist in implementing environmentally responsible mining practices.
* Monitor mine development activities and support rehabilitation and land-management requirements.
* Minimize unnecessary environmental impacts arising from mining operations.
8. Training and Knowledge Transfer
* Provide technical training and guidance to local mining personnel.
* Work with supervisors and junior engineers to improve their technical skills and understanding of modern mining practices.
* Transfer relevant technical knowledge and practical experience to local employees.
9. Reporting and Documentation
* Prepare technical reports, production reports, mining plans, and operational records.
* Maintain accurate records of mining activities, production performance, equipment utilization, and operational issues.
* Provide technical recommendations to management when required.
10. Other Technical Responsibilities

* Participate in mine inspections, technical meetings, and operational planning.
* Assist management in resolving technical and production-related challenges.
* Perform other duties related to mining engineering as reasonably required by Cai Sheng Mining.

Required Qualifications and Experience

* Degree or diploma in Mining Engineering or a related mining discipline.
* Relevant professional mining experience.
* Practical knowledge of mining operations, mine planning, production management, and mine safety.
* Ability to supervise mining personnel and coordinate technical activities.
* Knowledge of mining equipment and production processes.
* Good technical reporting and communication skills.

Position Objective

The Mining Engineer will contribute specialist technical expertise to Cai Sheng Mining, ensuring that mining operations are properly planned, efficiently managed, safely conducted, and supported by effective technical supervision and knowledge transfer to local personnel.
