Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Officer
Grade: 10
Department: Chamber Secretary
Reporting to: Human Resources Manager
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the above-mentioned position which has become vacant in the Chamber Secretary’s Department.
Duties and Responsibilities

* Develop, implement, monitor and review the City of Gweru’s Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies, programmes and procedures.
* Ensure compliance with the Factories and Works Act, Labour Act, NSSA regulations and other applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
* Conduct workplace hazard identification, risk assessments and recommend appropriate control measures.
* Carry out routine workplace inspections and audits to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards.
* Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses, and prepare comprehensive investigation reports.
* Coordinate accident prevention programmes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
* Develop and implement emergency preparedness and response plans.
* Coordinate Occupational Health and Safety awareness campaigns, induction programmes and employee training.
* Advise management on Occupational Health and Safety matters and recommend improvements to promote a safe working environment.
* Monitor the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure compliance with established safety standards.
* Liaise with regulatory authorities including NSSA, EMA, and the Ministry of Labour on Occupational Health and Safety matters.
* Maintain Occupational Health and Safety records, statistics and reports.
* Coordinate Safety Committee meetings and ensure implementation of committee resolutions.
* Promote a positive safety culture throughout the organisation.
* Perform any other duties assigned by the superiors.
Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications and experience:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Management, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
* Professional SHE qualification such as OSHEMAC, NEBOSH or equivalent is a must.
* Membership of a recognised professional body in Occupational Health and Safety is a must.
* Certification in First Aid, Fire Safety, Incident Investigation, or Risk Assessment will be an added advantage.
* Sound knowledge of Zimbabwean Occupational Health and Safety legislation and relevant statutory requirements.
* At least three (3) years of relevant experience.
* Clean Class 4 Driver’s Licence.
