ACCOUNTANT – CASH AND COMPLIANCE
Job Purpose
The Accountant will manage and control the financial records of the Health and Hygiene operation in Harare, ensuring accuracy, compliance, cost control, and timely financial reporting to support effective decision making and sustainable operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, earnings reports, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Maintain accurate books of accounts, including general ledger, cashbooks, and journals.
Data Analysis
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, assess performance, and provide insights to management.
Budgeting & Forecasting
• Develop and manage budgets, track spending, and forecast future financial needs.
Bills of Materials & Product Costing
• Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in Xperdyte with parallel costing in Excel.
• Conduct manufacturing costing in Xperdyte based on production feedback.
• Support pricing decisions through cost analysis.
Inventory Management
• Track inventory levels, conduct stock reconciliations, and investigate variances.
• Ensure proper valuation of raw materials, finished goods, and consumables.
Production Efficiencies
• Track, investigate, and report on production variances (raw material usage, labour efficiency, etc.).
• Report on production output variances compared to planned output.
Compliance & Auditing
• Ensure compliance with IFRS and tax laws; prepare tax returns.
• Review PAYE, VAT, NSSA, and other statutory returns for timely submission.
• Support audits and implement recommendations.
Account Management
• Reconcile bank statements.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, and collections.
• Review payroll costs and processing.
Financial Strategy
• Advise on cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and long term financial goals.
Systems & Controls
• Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets.
• Improve financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.
• Ensure proper documentation and filing of records.
Key Skills & Competencies
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience in cost accounting, preferably in manufacturing or FMCG.
• Proficiency in Sage; Xperdyte is an added advantage.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications & Experience
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIS) is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3–5 years’ accounting experience, preferably in health, hygiene, manufacturing, or FMCG sectors.
• Experience in a branch or plant environment is an advantage.
