Description
GOLDENKNOT FINANCIAL HOLDINGS seeks to recruit an experienced, commercially astute and results- oriented Accountant for our Micro Insurance Strategic Business Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving profitability, financial sustainability, sound financial management, effective budgeting, robust internal controls, regulatory compliance, cost optimisation and business decision support.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Drive achievement of revenue, profitability and financial sustainability targets.
• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and budgetary control.
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, financial statements and Board reports.
• Strengthen financial controls, governance, risk management and regulatory compliance.
• Optimise operating costs, improve the cost-to-income ratio and implement cost-saving initiatives.
• Manage cash flow, treasury, working capital and liquidity.
• Ensure efficient accounts receivable, accounts payable, premium collections and financial reconciliations.
• Conduct financial analysis, business performance reviews and profitability analysis to support strategic decision- making.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and implement audit recommendations.
• Develop, mentor and manage the Finance team while promoting continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Drive financial systems improvement, automation, innovation and data analytics
• Identify and evaluate investment opportunities to support business growth and profitability.
• Monitor performance of existing investments and provide recommendations.

Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or equivalent.
• Professional Accounting Qualification such as CA, ACCA, CIMA.
• Possession of Certificate of Proficiency in Short-term and Long-term insurance Business
• MBA or Master's Degree in Finance/Business Administration is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, taxation and financial management.
• Minimum 7 years' progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior finance management role.
• Experience in Insurance, Medical Aid, Funeral Assurance, Banking, Microfinance or Financial Services.
• Proven experience in budgeting, financial reporting, cost optimisation, financial controls and profitability improvement.
• Experience with ERP/Accounting Systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
