TorqueMaster Gearcase
The lightweight TorqueMaster gearcase (featured on select V8 models) has a 1.75:1 gear ratio and a robust 1.25-inch-diameter prop shaft designed for semi-surfacing, high-speed applications.

No outboard gets from zero to wide-open quicker than a Mercury Pro-XS, now with V8 4.6-litre muscle. This is performance that will rocket your rig right out of the hole and to the next hot spot in record time. These Pro XS models feature generous displacement in a performance-tuned powerhead with a deep breathing double-overhead-cam design and long-runner intake tract that delivers instant throttle response at any speed.

More displacement delivers more torque, and new Transient Spark technology optimizes spark timing to boost that torque during hole shot with a 1.75:1 gear ratio and a robust 3.2-centimetre-diameter prop shaft is designed for semi-surfacing, high-speed applications. Specific performance calibration takes rpm to 6200 at wide-open throttle for more flexible prop selection.

Squeezing speed from fuel
Mercury V-8 Pro XS Models transform every drop of fuel into performance to deliver excellent economy at cruising speed and wide-open throttle. Advanced Range Optimization (ARO) calibration utilizes closed-loop fuel control to precisely adjust the fuel mixture and deliver the best possible efficiency.

Never run out of juice
A powerful alternator provides net charging output of 20 amps at idle and 85 amps total wide-open throttle. Additionally, Idle Charge battery-management technology automatically increases idle rpm to boost alternator output and recharge low batteries to the proper level.

The cowl stays on
For easy oil checks and fills just pop open the new watertight Service Door on top of the cowl. Even smarter, at start-up the optional electronic oil-level sensor automatically alerts you to low oil level.
