THE IDEAL PERSON:
Mature, sober and dynamic individual who is willing and prepared to innovate and develop with the farm.
Degree/diploma in agriculture or related field.
Business management training is preferred.
Specialisation and enthusiasm in and one or more of the following
o i) Horticulture for export.
o ii) Button mushrooms.
o iii) Animals, poultry, fish.
o iv) Farm information system management.
o v) Sustainable forestry, land and water management.
At least ten years demonstrable experience in farm operations of which five should be in farm management.
Take overall charge of farm operations with a focus on:
Safety and security of all farm assets and human resources.
Utilize the assets and available resources to produce, meet/exceed set targets within agreed budgets and timelines.
Develop, implement and continuously improve the farm information management system, on line reporting and financial services.
Human resources management - planning, recruitment, performance management, records, compliance with statutory requirements, discipline, rules and regulations, documented policies and procedures, capacity and skills development.
Prepare annual production strategies and inputs plans, monthly budget management, risk assessment and management.
Maintain an open line of communication with farm owners and be able to present monthly and quarterly updates highlighting performance, market trends, and deliverables.
Prepare reports as follows:
o Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual production/performance reports
o Monthly financial reports and budgets
o Statutory returns
Negotiable performance related compensation package.
